Beware False QuickBooks Helpers

Ask the Accountant…

Question: I needed help with my QuickBooks. I googled and found a number, but they didn’t help and tried to sell me a different QuickBooks program. Why?

Answer: You should never google to find a way to contact QuickBooks. You will likely not find QB/Intuit, but the person on the other end of the phone may not be connected to QB at all and will often try to sell you an updated/upgraded product, for which they receive commission or will even want to connect to your computer to “fix” the problem. Do not fall for that!

If you are in QuickBooks Desktop (Pro, Premier, or Enterprise), go to “Help” (at top of screen) > QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us > click “Contact” at the bottom of the screen. This will connect you directly to QB.

If you are in QuickBooks Online (QBO), go to “Help” (at top of screen) > click “Contact” at bottom of that screen. This will connect you directly to QB.

Just because you are directly connected to QB does not mean that they won’t try to sell you something (convert from QB Desktop to QBO, for instance) or give you bad advice. They do not know our industry at all.
